Samsung in Lacey, DuPont and Yelm kitchens
Drive any street in the later Hawks Prairie subdivisions, Palisade Park in DuPont or Tahoma Terra in Yelm and you can guess the kitchen: a Samsung glass-top or gas range, a quiet Samsung dishwasher, and a Samsung washer-dryer stack in an upstairs closet. Builders bought them by the development because the package price was good and the look was uniform. They are capable machines with well-documented habits, and after eight to fourteen years those habits arrive on a schedule so regular that we often see the identical fault at two addresses on one cul-de-sac within a month.
Our water and our weather add their own twists. Lacey and DuPont groundwater is moderately hard with manganese in places, and the narrow passages in Samsung washer and dishwasher inlet valves scale shut sooner than most, so a 4C fill code often traces back to the tap rather than the machine. Homes on prairie wells near Nisqually and the Yelm outskirts see the same with iron. Puget Sound Energy interruptions in the storm months leave Samsung range displays blinking or the keypad locked, a call we handle by phone when we can. And the twenty-five-foot dryer vents through Hawks Prairie garages push Samsung dryers into heat faults that look electrical and are not.
What goes wrong with Samsung here, machine by machine
| Samsung machine | How it usually misbehaves | Underlying cause in most cases | The repair as we do it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gas range | Oven slow to light or never lights, a burner that clicks without catching, yellow sooty flames on propane | Bake igniter weakened so the gas valve opens late, a wet cap or failed spark switch on the cooktop, orifices never converted for propane | Igniter current measured and the igniter replaced, spark switches and module tested, burner ports cleared, orifices and regulator set for the fuel; we tell you when the maker still covers a known part |
| Front-load washer | 4C during fill, 5C during drain, dC with the door shut, or a violent spin | Inlet screens and valve scaled, pump filter packed or pump failed, door lock switch worn, shock absorbers tired on a stacked unit | Screens and valve cleaned or renewed, pump housing cleared and motor tested, lock replaced, shocks changed and the stack re-leveled |
| Top-load washer | Will not spin, UB or UE code, loud grinding, water left in the tub | Suspension rods worn so the tub knocks, drain pump clogged, or the clutch and drive assembly wearing | Suspension rods replaced as a set, pump cleared or replaced, drive components inspected and quoted plainly against the machine's age |
| Dryer | Runs cold, stops with HC or a heating code, or takes two cycles | Heating element open, thermal fuse or thermistor failed after years on a long vent, or the vent itself restricted | Element, fuse and thermistor metered, vent airflow measured, restriction cleared, parts replaced from van stock |
| Dishwasher | LC code with water on the floor of the base, 5C not draining, or leaves dishes wet | Leak sensor wetted by a door seal drip or an overfilled tub, sump filter and drain path clogged, heater or vent fan failed | Base dried and the drip source found, seal or hose replaced, drain route cleared to the disposal, heater and fan tested |
| Range and cooktop | Oven heats unevenly, glass-top burner dead, SE or a tC code on the display | Bake element or oven sensor failing, radiant element open, touch panel or key sensing fault after moisture or a power surge | Element and sensor readings compared with the chart, radiant element replaced, panel and board diagnosed before anything expensive is ordered |
Samsung codes we meet most often, and what they really say
| Code shown | What Samsung means by it | What we check before replacing anything |
|---|---|---|
| 4C (older models 4E) | Washer or dishwasher did not receive water quickly enough during fill | Both taps open, hose screens and inlet valve for scale, water pressure at the wall, then the valve coils with a meter; a scaled valve is the frequent finding on Lacey city water |
| 5C (older models 5E) | Washer or dishwasher could not drain within the time the control allows | Pump filter and impeller, drain hose height and kinks behind a stacked pair, the standpipe, then the pump motor under power |
| LC (dishwasher) | The leak sensor in the base has detected moisture | Door seal, sump gasket, hose clamps and the dispenser for the drip; also whether the machine was simply overfilled by a stuck inlet valve or foaming detergent |
| HC or hE (dryer) | Heating problem: the dryer sensed too much heat or no heat at the expected time | Vent airflow and exhaust temperature first, then thermistor, high-limit thermostat, thermal fuse and element; on the long garage vents here the vent is the answer more often than any part |
| Sud or SUd (washer) | Too much foam in the drum, so the washer pauses to let it settle | Detergent type and dose first, then the pump filter and drain path, since a slow drain holds foam in the tub; we clear, meter and replace only what reads wrong |
How a Samsung visit runs with the Hawks Prairie shop
A Samsung code opens the investigation; it does not close it. The same 4C comes from a half-open tap, a screen full of manganese grit or a valve coil that has opened, and each costs something different, so the technician reads the code, then reads the part. Our van carries the Samsung items the corridor actually wears out: washer inlet valves, front-load pump assemblies, door locks and shock absorbers, dryer elements, fuses and thermistors, range igniters and bake elements, dishwasher seals. A board or a rarer part is ordered by model and serial, and coming back to fit it is our scheduling problem, not an extra line for you. Approval by phone or by reply to the emailed figure is fine, so property managers can approve from anywhere.
We are independent. That means we do not speak for Samsung, but it also means we tell you when Samsung still does: the direct-drive motor on many recent Samsung washers carries coverage beyond the first year, and if yours qualifies we say so before any money leaves your account. The diagnostic is $99 and produces a firm written quote for the exact part that failed; agreeing to that quote makes the $99 a part of it, and declining makes $99 the end of the matter. Your emailed invoice states the warranty period on labor and on the part, and any gate or door code you give us is deleted once the job is finished.
Samsung questions
My Samsung front-loader stops on 4C every couple of months. Is there a permanent fix?
Usually, yes. On Lacey water a 4C that keeps coming back is nearly always scale, and the lasting repair covers the whole fill path: the hose screens, the inlet valve and the taps behind the machine. We clear or renew the screens, replace the valve if its coils or flow read wrong, and check the water pressure at the wall so the drum fills cleanly afterward.
The display on our Samsung range is blinking after the windstorm outage. Is that a repair?
Often not. A power interruption can leave the clock flashing or the control lock switched on, so the keypad ignores you and the oven will not start. Try the reset and control-lock steps in your manual, or call us and we walk you through it. If the display still blinks, shows a code or the oven stays cold afterward, book the visit.
Do you fix Samsung washers stacked in a Hoffman Hill townhome closet?
Yes. Stacked Samsung front-load pairs are among our most common DuPont calls, and we arrive equipped to take the stack apart and put it back safely. While the dryer is down we check the transition duct behind it, which is frequently crushed, and we re-level the pair before leaving so the violent-spin complaint does not return.
Is a Samsung washer motor covered beyond the first year?
On many models the direct-drive motor enjoys a longer maker coverage period than the rest of the washer. We are not Samsung and cannot speak for them, but we check your model and serial against their published terms during the diagnostic and tell you whether to call them before you spend anything with us.
Which Samsung parts do you carry in the van for Lacey and Yelm visits?
The ones that fail here most: washer inlet valves, front-load pumps and door lock assemblies, dryer heating elements with fuses and thermistors, range bake elements and igniters, and dishwasher door seals. Anything model-specific is ordered by serial after the diagnostic, and the second visit to fit it does not add a charge for our time coming back.

The visit
From your call to the test cycle
- STEP 01
Reach the shop
Say which machine and what it is doing. You get a two-hour window that works around school runs and shifts, and a call when the van leaves the previous stop.
- STEP 02
Instruments first
Clamp meter on the compressor lead, probe thermometer in the cabinet, manometer on the gas manifold. Once the failed part has a name the whole job goes onto one sheet: a single total with the $99 already sitting inside it.
- STEP 03
Your call
Yes, and the part is usually on a van shelf and fitted that afternoon. No, and your only cost is the $99, plus knowing what broke.
- STEP 04
Proof it works
A complete cycle runs while you watch, the kick panel goes back on straight, and the invoice lists the warranty term in print.
