Book a repair visit

Which machine, and what is it doing? The shop calls you back with a two-hour window. The trip out and the diagnosis run $99; if you then okay the repair, that $99 vanishes into the single total on the sheet. Book the visit for tomorrow or the day after and the repair comes down by up to $15 (same-day visits don’t qualify); a second machine looked at on the same trip takes $10 off its own diagnosis.

Why this shop

A repair van built for the houses along I-5.

Hawks Prairie was farmland, and within thirty years it became subdivision after subdivision from Marvin Road to the athletic complex. Every one of those kitchens got a builder package on move-in day, which means every one of them reaches its first round of failures on the same schedule as the house next door. The technician learns a street’s ice makers and dishwasher pumps by heart, and the van shelves are stocked around that.

Cross Martin Way and the houses get older and more varied: Tanglewilde ranches wired in the sixties, apartments off Sleater-Kinney with a stacked washer-dryer in a hall closet, cabins on Long Lake that became year-round homes. Head out past the gas main toward Nisqually, Johnson Point, Yelm and Roy and the kitchens run on well water and propane, so the first thing we look for is scale and a burner orifice sized for the wrong fuel. North on I-5, DuPont and Lakewood turn over every PCS season, and the washer that rode the moving truck arrives with its own set of complaints.

The money side never changes with the house. $99 covers the trip and a real diagnosis. The repair is one total on paper before the first panel comes off. If you say yes, the $99 is part of that total, not added to it. Book the visit for tomorrow or the day after and up to $15 comes off the repair (same-day visits don’t qualify), and a second machine checked on the same visit takes $10 off its own diagnosis. The warranty term appears on the invoice in print.

Owners, managers, tenants

Your tenant opens the door; you get a photo of the fault and the written total by email, answer yes by phone or reply, and the invoice showing the warranty term lands in your email. The gate code leaves our notes the day the job closes.

The visit

From your call to the test cycle

  1. STEP 01

    Reach the shop

Say which machine and what it is doing. You get a two-hour window that works around school runs and shifts, and a call when the van leaves the previous stop.

  2. STEP 02

    Instruments first

Clamp meter on the compressor lead, probe thermometer in the cabinet, manometer on the gas manifold. Once the failed part has a name the whole job goes onto one sheet: a single total with the $99 already sitting inside it.

  3. STEP 03

    Your call

Yes, and the part is usually on a van shelf and fitted that afternoon. No, and your only cost is the $99, plus knowing what broke.

  4. STEP 04

    Proof it works

A complete cycle runs while you watch, the kick panel goes back on straight, and the invoice lists the warranty term in print.

Questions

What Lacey callers want to know first

How does the $99 work?

It buys the trip and the diagnosis: a technician with a meter and thermometer at your machine, and the broken part named with a written total to fix it. Okay the repair and the $99 is counted inside that total, not stacked on top. Pass, and $99 is everything you owe.

We moved into DuPont last month and the dryer we brought runs but never gets hot.

A dryer fresh off a moving truck is one of our most frequent calls in Hoffman Hill and Palisade Park. The jolt cracks thermal fuses and loosens heater terminals, and the cord from the last house does not always match the new receptacle. We test the outlet, then the machine; most of these come down to one small part.

Everything in our Hawks Prairie kitchen is breaking in the same year. Is that typical?

It is how a whole subdivision behaves. The builder fitted every kitchen on the street within the same few weeks, so the ice makers, dishwasher pumps and dryer rollers wear out on a shared clock. When one neighbor calls we usually hear from two more, and the van shelves reflect that.

PSE cut out overnight in the wind and the refrigerator has not made a sound since.

Windstorm season fills the schedule with this one. The compressor tried to restart against head pressure and tripped its overload, or the board dropped a relay, or a garage GFCI popped. We sort out which at the machine; a replacement refrigerator is rarely the answer.

Does a trip to Yelm or Roy cost more than one in Lacey?

No. Every neighborhood on our list gets the same figure, and the invoice carries nothing for distance, gravel, a gate or the day of the week.

Which appliances and brands?

Refrigerators with their freezers, washers and dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, and the ice maker module in the refrigerator door. Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Bosch, Kenmore, Electrolux, Speed Queen and Amana, plus built-ins if you ask. We do not touch microwaves, wine coolers, countertop ice machines or commercial equipment.

Something quit? Let us put it on the route.

Call or send the form; you hear back with a window before the shop closes, the van arrives carrying the usual parts for your make, and the $99 for the diagnosis rolls into the repair total if you go ahead.
