Dryer Repair in DuPont for gas and electric machines with long vents
DuPont dryers push their air through some of the longest vent runs in the corridor, twenty-five feet up through a garage ceiling and out a soffit.

Why dryers in DuPont run hot, run long and quit early
The houses in Hoffman Hill and Palisade Park were framed with the laundry room in the middle of the plan and the dryer vent routed up through the garage ceiling to reach outside air. That run is often twenty feet or more with two or three elbows, and in the damp months lint in it stays wet and packs down. A dryer working against that much resistance runs hot, trips its thermal fuse, wears its heating element or gas valve coils early, and needs a second run to finish a load. Half the dryer calls we take in DuPont are really vent calls, and we say so when that is the case.
DuPont also mixes gas and electric dryers house by house, because Puget Sound Energy gas reaches most of the newer subdivisions but many homes were plumbed only for electric. Families who move every few years arrive with a machine that does not match the hookup, or with an electric dryer wearing the wrong cord for the outlet. We carry both three-prong and four-prong cords, gas igniters and coil kits, thermal fuses, belts and rollers for Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, Kenmore and Speed Queen, so the visit usually ends with a working dryer rather than a parts order.
Dryer repairs we make across DuPont
Gas dryer turning with no warmth
On a Puget Sound Energy gas dryer in Hoffman Hill, a cold drum that still turns means the igniter glows and gives up, the flame sensor has failed, or the valve coils open for a few cycles and then stop. We observe ignition from start to flame, meter coils and sensor, replace the culprit, then confirm the exhaust is not so restricted that the safety thermostat keeps killing the burner.
Electric dryer heats on one visit, not the next
Intermittent heat on an electric dryer often traces to an element with a hairline break that opens as it expands, a sticking cycling thermostat, or half the 240-volt feed dropping out at a tired outlet or breaker. We test the element cold and hot, read both supply legs at the terminal block and inspect the cord, which on a recently moved machine may be the wrong type or loosely fitted.
Two cycles to dry a load
When a DuPont dryer needs two runs, the machine is usually fine and the airflow is not. Exhaust flow gets measured where it leaves the dryer and again at the outside hood, the internal ducting and lint chute are cleaned, and you hear plainly whether the garage-ceiling vent needs a full cleaning. A blocked vent also means a hot cabinet, so the thermal fuse and high-limit thermostat are checked too.
Scraping, thumping or squealing from the drum
Drum noises on the townhouse dryers along Center Drive come from worn rear rollers, a glazed idler pulley, a flattened glide or a ground-down rear bearing. A thump on each rotation is a roller or a belt with a set in it; a squeal is the idler or bearing. We open the cabinet, feel each roller, replace worn ones as a pair and fit a new belt.
Dryer quits partway through and the cabinet is hot
A dryer that quits mid-cycle and restarts once it cools is protecting itself. On many Whirlpool and Maytag designs the thermal cutoff on the heater housing has opened, and it opens again quickly when the exhaust is choked. We replace the cutoff and high-limit thermostat, then correct the airflow behind it, because a new fuse on a blocked vent will be blown again by spring.
Control panel dead or buttons not responding
A dryer with no lights usually has an open door switch or thermal fuse, a tripped breaker, or a failed main board. Stacked units in DuPont's HOA townhomes are prone to a door switch worn out by ten thousand closings. We confirm power at the terminal block, meter fuse and door switch, and only then suspect the board, so a dark panel is never assumed to be a board.
What happens on a DuPont dryer visit
- Exhaust airflow measured at the dryer and at the outside hood before diagnosis
- Heat circuit tested end to end: igniter, coils or element, thermostats and fuse
- Drum rollers, belt, idler and glides inspected with the cabinet open
- A single repair figure sent by email; the $99 becomes part of it once you approve
- Dryer run through a heat cycle after the work, warranty term recorded on the invoice
Renters, movers and the cost of a DuPont dryer repair
Dryer calls in DuPont come from tenants at least as often as owners, and a good number come from families unpacking after a move who find the dryer they hauled from another state does not heat here. Our $99 diagnostic covers the technician's metered testing, the failed component named to you, and one repair figure. Agree to the repair and that $99 is a portion of it already paid; decline it and your total stays at $99. Owners and managers approve by phone or email from wherever they are, and the emailed invoice shows the warranty term.
Because DuPont is a straight shot up I-5 from the Hawks Prairie base and sits on a leg the van runs most days, dryer appointments here are booked inside the week without any travel line on the invoice. Where a dryer looks young enough for the manufacturer's coverage to still stand, we raise it before any work is agreed. When a board or gas valve assembly must be ordered, installing it on a later day is our cost to carry, not an addition to what you approved. Gate codes for the HOA communities are kept only until the job is closed and then deleted.
Asked in DuPont
Do you clean the vent as well as fix the dryer?
The ducting inside the dryer and the transition hose behind it are cleaned on each heat-related visit, and exhaust flow is measured so you know how restricted the long garage-ceiling run has become. A full cleaning of that ceiling vent is priced separately, and we tell you when it is the real reason the dryer keeps failing.
Our dryer came from another state and does not heat. Why?
Most often the electric dryer wears a cord that does not match the DuPont outlet, or only one side of the 240-volt feed is reaching the machine. Sometimes a gas dryer has been connected where only electric exists, or the other way around. We sort out the hookup, fit the correct cord and test the heat circuit in one visit.
How quickly can you come to Hoffman Hill or Palisade Park?
Dryer work in DuPont is scheduled inside the week, Monday through Saturday from 8 to 7. DuPont stops are usually the first ones grouped on the northern leg out of Hawks Prairie, so early slots are common. Same-day service is reserved for refrigerators that have stopped cooling.
My dryer cuts out mid-cycle and restarts later. Is that dangerous?
Not really. A dryer that cuts out and restarts is overheating, and the usual cause is a blocked exhaust with a heater housing that is running hotter than designed. Stop using it until it is looked at. Lint in a hot, restricted vent is a fire risk, and the fix is simple once the cause is known.
Can you service a stacked washer-dryer in a townhouse?
Yes. Stacked pairs and one-piece laundry centers in the DuPont HOA townhomes are routine. The technician knows which panels come off to reach the heater, belt and rollers without separating the pair, and we plan extra time when you mention the stacked setup at booking. Approval and invoicing work the same as for any other dryer.

The visit
From your call to the test cycle
- STEP 01
Reach the shop
Say which machine and what it is doing. You get a two-hour window that works around school runs and shifts, and a call when the van leaves the previous stop.
- STEP 02
Instruments first
Clamp meter on the compressor lead, probe thermometer in the cabinet, manometer on the gas manifold. Once the failed part has a name the whole job goes onto one sheet: a single total with the $99 already sitting inside it.
- STEP 03
Your call
Yes, and the part is usually on a van shelf and fitted that afternoon. No, and your only cost is the $99, plus knowing what broke.
- STEP 04
Proof it works
A complete cycle runs while you watch, the kick panel goes back on straight, and the invoice lists the warranty term in print.
Dryers in DuPont: one call, one written figure.
Call or send the form; you hear back with a window before the shop closes, the van arrives carrying the usual parts for your make, and the $99 for the diagnosis rolls into the repair total if you go ahead.
